The GSMT sports program has over 50 certified volunteers.
Most volunteers have a specific sport or passion, often related to a son or daughter's favorite sports activity. In order for GMST to start a new team or a new sport we need three volunteers: 1) the Team Coach, 2) an assistant Coach, 3) and a Team Mom. Next we need a gymnasium or sports field for practice.
We offer training and competion in many sports. Most sports volunteers sign up for the season which could be three to six months. If you would like to volunteer please complete the forms and online trainings below.
We are currently in need of a bowling pro who would like to volunteer some lessons.
If you are not able to commit to the season there are still critical volunteer positions needed. For example: sport has one or more tournament dates. For each tournament date, we need transportation, concessions or at least hydration and snacks. Medical and nursing expertise are always good to have available.
For each sport, we also celebrate the end of the season with a sports awards banquet! This involves planning, finding a suitable venue at a fair price, selecting a menu, sending out invitations, flyers, working as a cashier, decorating tables, etc. If you are a party planner this for you!
Keep in mind that for each sport, each set of volunteer roles will be different. There is something for everyone, at any age.

Note that GMST will take care of sending all paperwork and confirmations on to SOGA so you will also be certified with Special Olympics GA.
